Our Story: 47+ Years of Local Care
Proudly serving Central Queensland since 1979, Rockhampton Tyres has built a reputation as the local tyre shop Rockhampton families have relied on. Originally launched by Ken and Betty Newsome as a Dunlop Super Dealer, the workshop has grown and evolved through decades of dedication to customer service and tyre expertise.
The Foundation (1979 – 2002)
The Mission Began with Ken & Betty
In 1979, Ken and Betty Newsome opened the doors to Ken Newsome’s Tyre Centre. Their mission was simple: provide reliable, honest service and quality tyres to the local community. For over two decades, they built a reputation for genuine care and dependable workmanship.
A New Generation (2002 – 2017)
Continuing the Family Legacy
When Ken retired in 2002, the business passed to Melinda and Graham Newsome. Rebranding as Newsome’s Tyres Northside, they brought fresh energy and expanded services, all while keeping the family’s commitment to excellence at the heart of everything they did.

In 2017, Melinda stepped into the sole leadership role, guiding the business with strength and a deep respect for her family’s history.
To better reflect the growing community we serve, we officially became Rockhampton Tyres in 2022. While our name has evolved, our core values haven't budged an inch.
